What’s the difference between ceramic and porcelain tile?
Porcelain is denser, harder, and more water-resistant than ceramic. It’s ideal for high-traffic areas and wet environments. Ceramic is more affordable and works well for walls and moderate-traffic floors.
How long does tile installation take?
A typical bathroom professional tile installation takes 2-3 days including prep, setting, grouting, and curing. Larger areas or custom patterns require more time.
Can tile be installed over existing tile flooring?
Sometimes, but usually removal is better. We assess the existing floor’s stability and condition. In most cases, proper adhesion requires installing tile over a clean, solid surface.
Does natural stone tile require special maintenance?
Yes. Natural stone is porous and requires sealing to protect against stains and moisture. We seal stone tile after installation and recommend resealing every 1-2 years depending on use.
How do I prevent tile from cracking?
Proper subfloor preparation is key. We ensure the subfloor is stable, level, and free of movement. Using the right thinset and allowing proper curing time also prevents cracking.
