Do I need permits for framing work?
Yes. Most framing projects require building permits and inspections. We handle permit applications and coordinate inspections with local building departments.
What’s the difference between dimensional lumber and engineered lumber?
Dimensional lumber is traditional sawn wood (2x4s, 2x6s, etc.). Engineered lumber (LVL, I-joists) is manufactured for specific strength and span requirements. Both have appropriate applications.
How long does framing take?
Simple interior walls can be framed in a day or two. Room additions take a week or more depending on size. Full home framing takes several weeks.
Can you frame around existing plumbing and electrical?
Yes. We coordinate our structural carpentry services with existing utilities, providing proper clearances and access while maintaining structural integrity.
What causes framing to fail or sag?
Water damage, insect damage, undersized members, and improper spans cause framing issues. We inspect existing framing and repair or reinforce as needed to meet code.
